Half-Life 3 , like flying cars and fusion power, has been perpetually 5 to 10 years off, and it’s become a meme amongst fans to connect wildly disparate facts, string theory style, with the punchline being “Half-Life 3 confirmed?”.

I don’t know what any of this means, but I did once teach a physics course to the granddaughter of the guy who first proposed the string theory landscape.
